It wasn't the only agenda on the cards for the school, with a significant Remembrance Day tree planting also taking place.
A Lone Pine donated by the Australian War Memorial was planted with the help of RSL Port Macquarie sub-branch president Greg Laird and student representatives.
The Lone Pine was a direct descendent for the pine that was at the war memorial, which makes it even more special according to Principal Phil Harris.
"The kids will know now a little bit more history about the lone pine and the history of Gallipoli," he said.
"Having the RSL representatives here has been a really nice touch.
"We wanted to keep that community spirit in the school and to have these representatives from the RSL come here to help create history is fantastic."
The Lone Pine was planted as past of the 20th anniversary celebrations. The planting has created many conversations in classrooms and has proved to be a wonderful resource to help children in Australia understand our past.
