Community involvement
Our school values strong partnerships with our families and community. Parents and carers can get involved through our Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) or by volunteering at our school. Your time and support help make our school a better place for everyone.
Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)
The Tacking Point Parents and Citizens' Association's primary goal is the promotion of home, school and community partnerships that will assist principals, teachers, support staff, parents and students in the development and planning of school activities.
Involving yourself in your child's schooling is a very rewarding experience, both for yourself and your child. Research has consistently shown that engagement in a child's schooling by parents invariably results in a marked improvement in the child's academic results.
At Tacking Point Public School, parents can help in a number of ways: helpers are welcomed at the many fundraising and social activities that the P&C undertakes. Volunteers are required to manage the successful operation of P&C events. Fundraising activities include: Mothers Day and Fathers Day stalls; fun times for the whole family such as the Spring Fair; and a parents-only function, Trivia Nights. Many friendships are made at these functions and an enjoyable time is had by all.
Join our P&C
Joining the P&C is a great way to meet other families and to get involved and contribute to our school's future. We would love to have you on board! Come along to our P&C meeting on Monday's of week 3 and 8, during school terms to join.
P&C meetings
Meetings of the P&C Association are held at the school on Mondays of weeks 3 and 8 during the school terms, at 7:00 p.m. These last about an hour and a half, and a wide variety of issues are discussed. You will find the meetings informative and a useful opportunity at which you have a chance to have your say and find out what is going on. You are strongly urged to attend this friendly forum.
Volunteer at our school
Helping out at school is a great way to get involved in your school community.
Volunteer opportunities include:
- helping in the canteen
- getting involved in the P&C
- listening to children read in the classroom
- volunteering on sports days and other school events
- helping supervise excursions.
